Q: Can I use these taps for blind holes (holes with a bottom)?
A: We do not recommend using Spiral Point taps for blind holes. Because they push chips downward, the chips will accumulate at the bottom and potentially cause the tap to snap. For blind holes, please use our Spiral Flute series.
Q: What is the benefit of HSS 4341 for the drill bits?
A: HSS 4341 offers a high level of toughness. While it's slightly less heat-resistant than M2, the roll-forged 4341 is more flexible, making it less likely to shatter if the drill tilts slightly during manual operation—ideal for DIY and repair work.
Q: Is lubrication necessary for this set?
A: Yes. To maximize the life of both the M2 taps and the 4341 drills, we highly recommend using a standard cutting oil or tapping paste. This reduces friction and ensures a smoother thread finish.
