In high-pressure industrial fluid and gas systems, a standard straight thread simply cannot guarantee safety. Our 6-Piece NPT (National Pipe Taper) Tap Set is engineered to create the industry-standard 1:16 taper.
This specialized geometry creates a unique "wedging" effect during assembly, resulting in a high-integrity, metal-to-metal interference fit. While most sets on the market stop at 3/4", our expanded 6-piece kit includes the essential 1-inch tap, providing a complete solution for everything from small sensors to mainline industrial conduits.

Leaks under high vibration or pressure.
Solution: Our taps strictly adhere to the ANSI B1.20.1 standard. The 1:16 taper ensures that the further the fitting is turned, the tighter the seal becomes, providing superior leak resistance compared to straight threads.
Tool breakage or "stripping" when tapping tough materials.
Solution: Manufactured from Premium High-Speed Steel (HSS) and vacuum-hardened to 62-65 HRC. These tools cut through cast iron, stainless steel, and alloy pipes without losing their edge or snapping.
Rough thread finish causing seal failure.
Solution: All flutes are fully ground and micro-polished. This allows for smooth chip evacuation and prevents "cold welding" (material sticking to the tool), resulting in a professional, mirror-like thread finish.
Missing large sizes for critical mainline repairs.
Solution: We include the 1" NPT tap, which is often missing from standard sets. This makes our kit a "one-stop" solution for professional maintenance teams.
Hydraulics & Heavy Machinery: Maintaining and repairing ports for hydraulic cylinders, high-pressure pumps, and commercial excavators.
Automotive & Trucking: Essential for cleaning fuel rail ports, oversized oil pan plugs, and commercial air brake systems.
Oil & Gas MRO: Specifically designed for field repairs of pipe connectors where localized high-pressure sealing is mandatory.
Commercial Plumbing & HVAC: Threading black iron gas pipes and large-diameter brass fittings for industrial heating systems.

Q: Can I use these NPT taps on BSPT (British) fittings?
A: No. NPT has a 60° thread angle, whereas BSPT uses a 55° angle. Mixing them will result in cross-threading and catastrophic leaks.
Q: How do I know when to stop tapping with an NPT tap?
A: Because it is tapered, depth is critical. You should tap until the "Hand Tight Engagement" point is reached—typically when about 4 to 5 threads of the tap remain visible above the surface. Tapping all the way to the shank will make the hole too large to seal.
Q: Is cutting oil required for NPT tapping?
A: Absolutely. Since the contact area increases as the taper advances, friction builds up rapidly. High-quality tapping oil is essential to protect the tool and ensure a clean thread.
