Our DIN 371/376 HSS-E M35 Nitrided Spiral Flute Taps represent the pinnacle of surface engineering for blind-hole tapping. By combining the high red-hardness of 5% Cobalt (M35) with a specialized Nitrided surface treatment, these taps provide an "armored" cutting edge.
The 35° spiral flute design acts as a high-speed elevator, pulling chips upward and out of the hole, while the nitrided layer (Surface Hardness approx HRC 68) ensures the tool survives the most abrasive machining environments without losing its edge.

Extreme Surface Hardness: The nitriding process diffuses nitrogen into the tool surface, creating a hard "case" (approx HRC 68). This is significantly harder than standard HSS-E, providing 2x-3x more wear resistance in abrasive materials.
Reduced Friction & Anti-Galling: The nitrided layer has a lower coefficient of friction. This prevents "cold welding" or "chip welding" where material sticks to the tap flutes—a common cause of tap breakage in stainless steel.
HSS-M35 Cobalt Core: Underneath the nitrided layer is a high-performance 5% Cobalt substrate. This provides the structural toughness needed to handle high radial torque without the tool becoming brittle.
Abrasive Materials: Specifically engineered for Gray Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, and Cast Aluminum where abrasive particles quickly dull standard tools.
Work-Hardening Alloys: Ideal for Stainless Steel (304/316) and high-tensile structural steels where heat buildup is a major concern.
High-Volume CNC Production: Perfect for automated machining centers requiring long tool-change intervals and consistent 6H thread precision.

Premium Protection: Each tap is housed in a shockproof Rose-Box plastic case with a clear size label.
Rust-Proof Sealing: Every nitrided tap is pre-coated with high-viscosity anti-rust oil for a 36-month safe shelf life.
OEM Branding: We offer high-precision Laser Marking on shanks (Logo + Size + HSSE-E + Nitrided) to help distributors build their own brand identity.

Q: Why use Nitrided taps instead of TiN coated taps?
A: Nitriding is a diffusion process, not a coating. It won't peel or flake off under high pressure. It is particularly effective in abrasive materials like cast iron where coatings might wear off prematurely.
Q: Does Nitriding make the tap more brittle?
A: No. Because we use HSS-M35 as the base material, the core remains tough and flexible enough to handle the torque, while only the surface is hardened to resist wear.
Q: What is the benefit of the DIN 371 Reinforced Shank?
A: For smaller sizes (M2-M10), the thicker shank provides much higher torsional rigidity, which is critical for preventing the "corkscrew" breakage often seen in high-speed CNC tapping.
