In hydraulic and pneumatic systems, the slightest imperfection in an external pipe thread can lead to costly fluid leaks and system failure.
Standard dies often fail to produce the exact 1:16 taper required for RC threads, resulting in a loose fit that cannot be sealed with PTFE tape or sealant.
Furthermore, torn threads on G-series pipes lead to cross-threading, making it impossible to achieve a secure, vibration-resistant mechanical connection.
Many budget pipe dies lack the CNC-ground precision needed to maintain the consistent 55 degree Whitworth thread angle required for G and RC standards.
Standard carbon steel dies quickly lose their edge when cutting into galvanized or stainless pipes, leading to distorted thread profiles and "burred" crests.
Without a specialized lead-in chamfer, starting a die on a large-diameter pipe is difficult, often leading to crooked threads that compromise the entire joint.
Our RC and G Series Dies are manufactured from vacuum-hardened HSS-M2 to ensure the sharpest possible cutting edges and extreme wear resistance.
The RC series features a precision-engineered 1:16 taper, while the G series maintains a strict Class A tolerance for perfect cylindrical mechanical fits.
Each die is 100% CNC-ground to ensure the 55 degreen flank angle is perfect, providing a mirror-like finish that ensures 100% leak-proof performance.

Hydraulic Maintenance: Essential for creating precision external threads on hydraulic hoses, couplings, and adaptors used in heavy machinery.
Oil & Gas Pipelines: Specialized RC tapered dies for on-site threading of high-pressure gas lines where a metal-to-metal seal is required.
Industrial Plumbing: A must-have for G-series mechanical fittings in food processing plants, chemical facilities, and water treatment centers.
HVAC Systems: Reliable threading for copper and steel pipes in large-scale cooling and heating systems requiring consistent pitch accuracy.
1. Standard Identification: Use G Series for parallel threads where the seal is made by a washer or O-ring; use RC Series for tapered sealing.
2. Pipe Preparation: Ensure the pipe end is square and deburred. For RC threads, a slight chamfer helps the die's 1:16 taper engage correctly.
3. Lubrication Priority: Pipe threading generates significant heat due to the wide surface area of the thread; always use heavy-duty cutting oil to protect the HSS-M2 edge.
4. O.D. Matching: Check the Outer Diameter (O.D.) of the die against your die stock to ensure a stable fit for large-diameter pipe work.
Q: Can a G-series die be used on an RC-series pipe?
A: No. G threads are parallel and RC threads are tapered. Mixing them will result in a joint that cannot be sealed and will likely leak under pressure.
Q: Why do your pipe dies have more chip holes than standard dies?
A: Pipe threads are much wider than bolt threads. The extra chip holes allow for the massive volume of metal removed to evacuate without clogging or tearing.
Q: Do you offer NPT dies for the North American market?
A: Yes. While G and RC are 55 degree Whitworth standards, we also manufacture a full range of NPT 60 degree American Pipe Standard dies.
